The best mix of physical activity would involve a combination of strength training, low and high-intensity cardio exercise, and stretching, but what’s most important is finding and sticking to something that you enjoy. If you enjoy an activity, it is much more likely that you will stick to it. If you like walking, walk. If you like spinning as I do, go spinning. If you like lifting weights in a fitness studio or at home, do that. Just commit and stick to it, and your body will thank you for it.
Here are some key benefits of exercise, according to the Mayo Clinic. Physical activity and movement:
- controls weight
- combats health conditions
- prevents illness and infections
- improves mood
- boosts energy
- promotes better sleep
- may boost your sex life
- promotes social connection
